Imma BLOG BABY.

20121208-232405.jpg

I approach it with innocence.

I approach with love

I approach it because I believe I have something significant and something beautiful to offer in the artistic form of words.

I approach it with a huge desire to uplift, educate, entertain while providing wisdom on a variety of topics.

I didn’t say knowledge. Knowledge is one thing, but wisdom is on a whole new level. Its about application for me.

This is all new for me. I may not write or blog like the traditional or veteran bloggers, but that’s okay, because I have my own way, my own thing going on, my own style, my own flavor. There’s only one LeXXah Drew, baby!

I not only believe in providing stellar performances on the mic, in my music, when I draw on canvas, when I write lyrics, when I create a step, when I design a cover or make a video, but I’m bringing it when I blog and I’m not following any set rules.

Imma Blog Baby.

A Blog Baby means always learning, always creating, always trying NEW THINGS, always improving and getting better when it comes to expressing the mind, the body and the gifts you’ve been Blessed with. It is having the guts and not being afraid to do things differently. You have not been diluted or conformed to the ways of the world. You have not been institutionalized. You exercise your innocence or what you have left of it to draw and talk and see the world differently than the common person. After all, that is what a baby does anyway.

Haven’t you ever witnessed the beauty of a baby’s thought process? It truly is a magnificent sight.

To my parents, I will always be their baby. No matter how old I am. This my friend is all about perception.

#StudioFlow

20121129-110240.jpg

It’s a flow that never stops.

It has no set time of start or end. There is no such thing as a 9 to 5 on this concept, this vibe, this zone.

Music people know it, from producers, songwriters, artists to major labels, independent labels, A&Rs, rappers and engineers, why??? Because it’s what we do. It’s what we eat, sleep and drink 25-8, (shout out to MJB for putting us on game with that Single!)

We make our own hours, hours that aren’t known to the average person. It’s about that grind, the desire to dish out, to produce a GREAT product every time those hands are placed on the mixing board, on that beat making program, exporting or importing vocals in waves, recording on the mic, the list goes on.

#StudioFlow is the business. It’s like having that juice, that constant vibe everyday all the time and you can’t get rid of it.

It’s a craving. It’s definitely a turn on for me because it is what I love to do. When all seems to fail, you just want to show it on tha mic, put it on that bangin stellar track and make beautiful hit songs for all the world to hear.

It’s one of the hottest places on the planet. I can trap myself in a studio for hours, for days and create out the wazoo and not get tired. I’m telling you it’s a beautiful thing.

As a songwriter it’s a must that I always be in and have that flow. Writing for other artists both male and female, it is a must. I bring it everytime, my A+ game. You always have to prove yourself.

#StudioFlow circulates around the whole music industry. There’s no such thing as being in the music industry and Not having this flow.

It’s a sacrifice day in and day out. Some newbies may not know about it just yet or to its fullest because they are just gettin their feet wet.

I felt it was time to clarify what #StudioFlow really is. It’s the real thing, the real deal and it does exist for a reason. the best of the best of the best use this terminology and its good for one to know it.

Imma even get more creative with it and call it, #StudioJuice. That’s gonna be the next hottest movie on BET. Just watch.

If you got that #StudioFlow, salute, like and talk it up on my blog. It is a lifestyle.

LOVE is selfless

20121208-232642.jpg

LOVE is selfless……. ………

So, how long do you have to be selfless?

Well, LOVE is lasting, therefore it is forever, which means selfless is forever.

To put others before yourself is a noble and humbling sacrifice that seeks no reward.

If rewards existed…

In that case it would be LOVE with benefits. If you focus on LOVE, there will always be something greater in store for you. If you focus on the benefits, then you will always fall short or miss out on what LOVE truly has to offer.

Focus on LOVE in its purest form. That’s the only way to go and it is what will last more than a billion plus lifetimes.

Sorry & Apology

Sometimes it means nothing.
Sometimes it’s the right thing to say.
Other times it sounds good.
They can often be portrayed as political words that just so happen to have the ability to tap into the most sincerest emotions.

Sometimes the purpose is misunderstood, meaning that you really mean it and you don’t do it again. You learn from your mistakes and get better.

In a way, these two words keep us honest in every fabric of the human form that,  YOU ARE HUMAN.

It would be nice to be perfect if it meant that every time you made a mistake that these words wouldn’t exist.

But the truth is, no one is perfect. These words do exist. And we all fall short to the glory of God.

And after you use them in the correct manner, then what!!?? How do you cope? Do you condemn yourself? Do you stone yourself or do you just let it go and pretend that nothing ever happened. Do you keep it on the surface as a constant reminder that you failed? Do you believe in your heart that after the error and/or mistake that you are this bad and evil person? That you are hell bound?

Isn’t that what Satan wants you to believe?

Maybe the aftermath is more about getting back to the feelings of normalcy. Can you stay angry and upset with yourself forever even when your goal is to get better everyday.

“I’m sorry.”

“I apologize for everything I’ve done. “

How could that person forgive you when you feel the repercussions of not being able to even forgive yourself?

Do your tears mean anything? The timber in your voice? The pale expression you have after you wake up from broken sleep.

It can taunt you, haunt you and bodily pains you encounter from it can become totally inoperative completely.

Tell me, who hasn’t been through it? This moment has occurred to everyone, but it’s cope DNA is different with each & every person. Some people feel alot, some people feel a little and others feel nothing at all.

So what Sorry/Apologizing cope DNA are you?

I Hate the Title, “Artist”

Its one of those things where, I hate it so much I love it. Literally.

There’s a couple of ways on how you can look at it because the title “artist” has so many definitions. Its not just one thing, but many things.

I actually meant it in the sense of music, but you can look at it in different ways.

The frustrating thing to me about this title is that many people devalue it if its not on a respectable level. That’s the crazy thing about being an artist. Having that title doesn’t seem to hold much weight. Sometimes I feel like its looked at as a joke.

Henceforth, the saying, “the starving artist”. It can at times be on the same playing field as a homeless person.

That’s pretty low, but I think its safe to say that no one wants the slightest idea of, let alone the actual title of being, “homeless”.

These points can both be said about the visual artist and the musician/band artist. Without the buzz, the attention, the money backing you, the popularity etc., being an “Artist” can be the worst thing on the planet.

These are the elements, in which are needed for one with the title, “artist”, should have. Its a must. You are displaying an art, your creativity, your concept of beauty.

Artists thrive from the love of the people, the masses.

I love art and I have much respect for artists. Its not an easy thing to have that title. Talk about going through so much hate just to get to the love. Especially nowadays. Supporting that title is not as feasible as it has been in past years.

People are hesitant when it comes to supporting this profession. People can buy a $5 mocha from Starbucks, but can’t or refuse to spend a $1 on itunes to support an artist.

Artists these days have to pay to perform when they are providing a service which is entertainment. Artists should be getting paid for this service.

People don’t realize how much work goes into putting a stellar song together, from production to writing the lyrics to studio time. Then more work is put in to rehearse the performance. Then wardrobe and image is a huge factor. An artist must play their role, their character.

Then there’s the matter of transportation, promoting, getting your name out there. Major marketing is involved. All of these features are not cheap. There are other things as well, but I think these are the main characteristics.

It makes you hate it just thinking about it. This title is different from other titles or at least what comes with it. With this title, you don’t have to have a degree. With other titles that are treated more prestigious, a degree is required in most cases and a combination of experience. Talent alone is disguised by knowledge, unlike “Artist”, talent is open with creativity and we all know that art is objective.

A hard truth. You have to break out of it. There is much love in the title, but the same love that comes with it, is the same love that makes you hate it.
