The Earrings MESSAGE:

20121203-223159.jpg

I wear earrings because I want to look pretty.

I need a different look, a new feel to change how I see myself in the mirror.

I want to look upon myself in another light to remind me that there is beauty on the inside of me even if it is outside adornment for a moment.

I want to view my innocence, to forget how people use to look at me and how they may look at me now. Not that it matters because I have matured. But still, the way you meet the public does matter.

I want to feel confident. I want to smile and be happy with the way that I look. My approval means everything, my attitude means alot, I gotta feel good about how I look.

I want to convince myself that I’m a Big Girl, that I mean something to me.

I want to show these moments to my kids. I want to display the peace about my appearance.

Its about being somebody to me, accepting myself as who I am and all that I can be.

To be a stellar chick, lady and woman, wearing them supports all that, upscale and prestigious style. I love the elegance.

I am elegant and prestigious.

I want to compliment my facial features, to breathe with ease, to enjoy my youth and delete negative stress if and when present.

I want to look, feel and do better than I did and was on yesterday.

I can see me in the right way, a beautiful way, a magnificent way……….

ALL FROM SIMPLY WEARING EARRINGS!!!!!!

U Gotta Get Lucky!!!!

I hate to say this, because I don’t really believe in luck.

Luck has never really been on my side.

But unfortunately, fortunately, u gotta get lucky when it comes to this music scene, meaning making it into the music industry. Its a combination of being in the right place at the right time saying and displaying the right things and hitting it on the knob.

Its hard to guess what A&R’s and managers and reputable producers and anyone else along those lines are thinking. Its almost like a mind game or something.

Then, you have to be yourself throughout it all. Not being yourself is all bad. I guess it has to be a natural gift or something. Its just crazy how it all works.

Its one of those things where, you have to depend on a coin being thrown up in the air and you’re praying that it lands on heads rather then tails. Lol.

And all the while, you have to continue to develop and master your craft to adjust to the trends, to always stay fresh on your sound, create a new sound and market what you do. Man, its a grind. A serious grind and the crazy thing is, is once you get in, it doesn’t mean anything. Its almost like you have to start all over and you have to be way better then what you were before.

“You’re Only As Good As Your Last Hit!”

4 real. It is true. This thing is about making money and nothin’ but. You are only considered, “Fam-” if you are making somebody else’s pockets fat. That’s what, “Fam-” is. Its all about that bread.

But, you definitely gotta get lucky. There is so much money out here to be made, but it is only available to a certain group of people. Until that door is unlocked, little, if not nothing is going to happen.

But I will say this, God is able. God is greater than luck. His Blessing are greater then luck and that’s what I focus on the most. What God has for you it is for you, no if ands or butts about it. I think that is my best advice for anyone. God will work on your behalf. Sometimes, if not all times, it is not up to us, to say what we want to do or desire to do.

But continue to do your thing. Believe in yourself and put actions behind it. Its too easy just to give up. Too easy. Fight for what you believe in.

Writer’s Block does NOT have to EXIST!!!!!

The answer is closer to you than you think, literally! Not figuratively or metaphorically.

I am a songwriter. Songwriting has been in my DNA for awhile, since I was little in fact. There’s one thing I can say about Writer’s Block…….,

“I Do NOT CLAIM IT!”

I’ve never really believed in it because it doesn’t have to exist. Their are ways and methods around it. It is called preoccupying the mind & in doing that it transcends into the body & spirit.

Hope that wasn’t to heavy for you. Let me explain!

In most cases, people try to focus too much of their attention on the task at hand. It’s too much of a focal point. All of your energy is directed solely on that particular subject, in this case, writing a song, coming up with a concept, getting the melodic structure right on point & conveying the idea effectively.

LeXXah Drew FOCUSED

We know the goal of writing the song is to make it HOT! A HIT! A STELLAR RECORD!!!! Of course! But sometimes when you’re focus is diverted and channeled else where other than music, you are able to write those stellar lyrics you were looking for all along, vocal production, arrangements & all.

Think of it this way. Have you ever lost something like your phone or favorite t-shirt or maybe some jewelry and it drove you crazy trying to find it? But, all of a sudden, you found things that you weren’t trying to find, that you misplaced last week or a month ago. Lol. It’s crazy how that works.

It is the same when it comes to writing a song. It’ll drive you crazy if you can’t find those lyrics, that concept, that melody. Don’t drive yourself crazy. There’s no need.

Simply find something else, meaning, watch your favorite movie, fix one of your favorite snacks or meal, call your friend, your sibling or your Mom. Go play basketball, play Mass Effect on Playstation or listen to music as a fan for enjoyment rather than in the professional role you often play.

You get the idea. Channel your energy somewhere else.

So, I will share with you on what I do to avoid writers block. I divert my energy by sitting on the toilet.

Yes, you heard me right. It gives me a relief & much comfort. So many concepts and ideas just come to me. Talk about peace & tranquility and finding those elements that will make that song so stellar. It’s a beautiful thing.

Putting that song together, laying down the reference vocals, writing those lyrics, having a strong concept!

The other thing I do is enjoy listening to the music as a fan & lover of music. I dance to it and workout to it and it’s easy on my mind, body & spirit. I work up a sweat and everything. Besides, that’s what the purpose of a song you write is for, inevitably, is for fans and people to enjoy what you have created.

Trust me it works. Just know that writers block doesn’t have to exist. You don’t have to be a lost for words or concept or feeling. Those elements are in you, you’re just focusing too hard on them, so therefore their not revealed on the surface.

Don’t look for the lyrics, the concept, the melodic structure, let it all come.

I always say, if something is in you, it will come out. That’s the beauty about having a gift. Your gift will not leave you. It was given to you by God.

Be Blessed!
