Basketball DNA – LeXXah Drew

There are many athletes out here that have that Athlete DNA and I happen to be one of them. Some people don’t have the talent, heart, grind, agility, endurance, cardio, muscle mass, IQ ect. to obtain this, all in which are features and characteristics of Athlete DNA, but I have truly been Blessed. Its an honor actually. There are a multitude of sports on this planet, but the sport I would like to focus on the most is Basketball.

Basketball is not only my favorite sport, but a sport that I have played, coached and officiated. So, that info alone tells you that the intelligence and experience of the game runs through my veins and my blood. I can not deny it.

I have a huge appreciation for female athletes no matter what sport they play. The sacrifice that female athletes make is a testament of the strength, determination and will of a woman. Its not easy. The obligations, roles and responsibilities that females take on is alot of stress on the genetic makeup of a female body. I have no complaints though. The stress, the soreness, the daily workout routine, staying fit and staying healthy is one of the greatest things ever.

I’m LeXXah Drew, point guard/shooting guard, #3, Defensive guru, athletic, quick, fast, high basketball IQ and……….well, to make a long story short, I have Basketball DNA and I show it with class and confidence.

No PAUSE Button!

Once you enter you can’t stop. There is no break time, There is no going back to watching film thoroughly until after the game is over, you already have to have that together.

 pause-button

You should of been prepared because you knew. You know what is always at stake. You felt it before it started. It was preconceived.

The battlefield pauses for no one. Even when it seems like there is a pause button, really there isn’t. You’ve just delayed time. You are still in the heat of battle. You’re in a gunfire fight.

We allow our minds to slow down just enough so that we can take note on what’s happening, but its all happening so fast. Its called mind over body.

Do we have a pause button for living, for breathing…………..”Yes and NO, but moreso NO.”

When we sneeze, our hearts stop for a moment, “God Bless You.” But then keeps going. The break from life is not long. Pause means pause, it doesn’t mean stop, it doesn’t mean death.

You pick up where your momentum left you. You pick up from the middle of your train of thought or from the middle of a sentence. You pick up from where your foot was going to step next.

You pick up from what you were going to say, what you were going to do. The PLAY Button is always active unless you’re dead.

Momentum can shift from the breaks that breach the flow of what will come or hasn’t come, but will come.

You agreed to the task, the mission, the project. It was a binding contract before you started. You joined the team, you signed that piece of paper, YOU WERE BORN!

Someone had an influence on activating your game, your life and thats just how it is.

Now what in the world am I talking about………………….

You know what I speak of. I don’t have to tell you. You are smart enough to figure it out. If I told you, it would be no fun. You would miss out on the whole objective and point in which I speak of.

PAUSE………………………………………………………………………………..

You see those dots!? I spoke the word, but did you PAUSE reading? did you PAUSE breathing? did you PAUSE looking? did you PAUSE blinking? Did you go to the next word in this blog? Did your thoughts continue to move from left to right?

What did you do?

Its rhetorical. But it kept going. There is no PAUSE Button. You just proved it because you’re still playing the game. You are still alive and you have just moved on to the next scene of your life.

“Speechless” LeXXah Drew Poetry Sunday

I don’t know what to say, so I’m sayin it.
I don’t know what to think, but I’m thinking it.
I don’t know what gesture to make, but the gesture just comes.
I’m looking at the television, but all I see is space, the daydream.

The experience is peaceful for that moment & quite calm to the spirit.
I read the words in an article or a book, but I don’t understand what it’s saying.
The words formed into a sentence structure is cool though.

I speed through the chapters.

I hear broken records speak to me, but it goes through one ear & out the other.
What does all this mean?
That as people we have so much going on in our lives that we just have moments where we are, “SPEECHLESS”?

When you calculate in our daily struggles, spiritual malfunctions, flaws, mistakes, errors, addictions, mental relapses & more that all we encounter leads to large quantities of small, mid-size & long moments of being, “SPEECHLESS”?

I don’t know…………..I’m not really thinking about it at the moment as a noun, adjective or verb! “I’m Speechless right now!”

U Gotta Get Lucky!!!!

I hate to say this, because I don’t really believe in luck.

Luck has never really been on my side.

But unfortunately, fortunately, u gotta get lucky when it comes to this music scene, meaning making it into the music industry. Its a combination of being in the right place at the right time saying and displaying the right things and hitting it on the knob.

Its hard to guess what A&R’s and managers and reputable producers and anyone else along those lines are thinking. Its almost like a mind game or something.

Then, you have to be yourself throughout it all. Not being yourself is all bad. I guess it has to be a natural gift or something. Its just crazy how it all works.

Its one of those things where, you have to depend on a coin being thrown up in the air and you’re praying that it lands on heads rather then tails. Lol.

And all the while, you have to continue to develop and master your craft to adjust to the trends, to always stay fresh on your sound, create a new sound and market what you do. Man, its a grind. A serious grind and the crazy thing is, is once you get in, it doesn’t mean anything. Its almost like you have to start all over and you have to be way better then what you were before.

“You’re Only As Good As Your Last Hit!”

4 real. It is true. This thing is about making money and nothin’ but. You are only considered, “Fam-” if you are making somebody else’s pockets fat. That’s what, “Fam-” is. Its all about that bread.

But, you definitely gotta get lucky. There is so much money out here to be made, but it is only available to a certain group of people. Until that door is unlocked, little, if not nothing is going to happen.

But I will say this, God is able. God is greater than luck. His Blessing are greater then luck and that’s what I focus on the most. What God has for you it is for you, no if ands or butts about it. I think that is my best advice for anyone. God will work on your behalf. Sometimes, if not all times, it is not up to us, to say what we want to do or desire to do.

But continue to do your thing. Believe in yourself and put actions behind it. Its too easy just to give up. Too easy. Fight for what you believe in.
